In honor of LT Mindy L. Willis and her dedication to the field of medicine, Battlesight Zero Coffee is proud to offer a Memorial Scholarship to those Veterans pursuing a medical degree.

1st Lieutenant Mindy Willis graduated from Chapman High School in 2004, then went on to enlist in the Kansas Air National Guard in the fall.

She deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with 190th ARW Security Forces. When she returned home in July 2006, Mindy went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Baker University and graduated May 2012. Mindy worked at St. Francis as a C.N.A. and a Phlebotomist during her time at Baker University.

After receiving her certification from Kansas State Board of Nursing in January 2013, Mindy worked at the Topeka Correctional Facility as an R.N. for a year, and went on to be employed by Stormont Vail as an R.N. on the Post-Surgical floor. Mindy also served as a preceptor mentoring new nurses, and was always willing to take the “newbies” under her wing. Mindy then went on to achieve higher military goals by receiving a commission from the Oklahoma Air National Guard 137th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron serving as a Flight Nurse. She was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in 2016.

She passed away on February 22, 2017.
